HUGO TRACKS ON TOURWITH KATE BOY IN LOS ANGELES
After a very successful kick-off of HUGO Tracks On Tour at Club Trouw in Amsterdam late last year, HUGO Tracks took over one of the hottest venues in Los Angeles last Thursday for a thrilling club night.
With this event, which was co-hosted by Interview Magazine and included a special performance by current HUGO Artists Kate Boy, it was no surprise that LA's club du jour,The Lash, in up-and-coming Downtown filled up quickly after the doors opened and remained packed all night.
Around 11pm, Kate Boy took to the stage and played another one of their astonishing performances, once again winning-over their crowd with their perfectly aligned mixture of energetic songs and strong visual elements.
Speaking of visuals, these were provided by New York-based artist duo HART+LËSHKINA, who also did the interior design of The Lash. Erik Hart and Tatiana Lëshkina seem to be multitalents - their skills vary from photography and space design to moving image and artistic direction. Exclusively for HUGO, they did a new project. The two artists aimed to capture the HUGO collection in a non place, without conventional restrains and gravity. There is no other location more suitable to realize this idea than a pool in sunny L.A. where the clothes are floating underwater. The project was inspired by no other than John Lautner as well as Ed Ruscha’s “Nine swimming pools” book.
These perfectly matched Kate Boy's gig, which showed once more that their upcoming debut album is more than overdue.
Kate Boy's performance was followed by an eclectic and moving dj set by LA's own BC Kingdom, who, if they're not making people sweat on the dance floor, also sing and produce their own music and have previously released on Solange Knowles' label Saint Records.
The second edition of HUGO Tracks On Tour has been a total blast. The next edition is sure to come soon to a city near you...
